WordPress Tutorial- A Complete Guide To Beginners

1-    Installing the WordPress

The first step is to install WordPress on your device. The installation process as easy as installing any other software installation. This step would hardly take five minutes of your precious time.

After installation, you need to download the latest WordPress version from the official site of wordpress.org. when you are done downloading WordPress, the next step is to upload your WordPress files to your hosting account. For this purpose, you can use a file manager that is provided to you by your hosting provider or by your FTP client.

As WordPress store all your information in the database, make sure to create one. You can create a database for yourself under the MySQL Database section. Write down the database details, as you will need them later.

2-    WordPress dashboard Navigation

After completing the installation, the next thing to do is to log in to the WordPress administrator dashboard. You can do this by clicking the link to the login page on the front end of the WordPress blog.

Some themes don’t have this link if this is the case your can login to the WordPress dashboard by adding wp-admin at the end of your website’s address.

After completing the logging-in step, you will enter the administrator dashboard. Here you will see three sections:

  • A toolbar
  • Main navigation menu
  • Main work area

You can customize your WordPress setting on this dashboard.

3-    Time to upload the Content

After doing all the settings and customization of your WordPress website, it’s time to upload your post and pages (about us and contact pages) on your website.

To upload a post go to  Posts > Add New or the other way is from the toolbar for this go to New > Post.

An editing screen will appear, enter the title of your post. Then enter the content you want to post.  You can do the editing of your content just like you do in Google Docs or MS word.

Their many meta-boxes on the right side of the screen, each of them has different functions. For example, in the categories section, you can add the category to your post, the tag box will allow you to add tags, with the feature image box you can add an image to your post, and the publish section allows you to post your content.

4-    Installing Plugins and Themes

Plugins increase the functionality of your WordPress website. You can add various premium and free plugins for the WordPress directory.

To add the new plugin install the WordPress plugin, then press the Add new under  the plugins section, write the name of the plugin you have plans to install, press the install button, and activate it.

Some of the important plugins are Google XL sitemaps, Yoast SEO, Wordfence Security, Contact Form 7, etc.

Installing the themes is as easy as installing plugins there are several free and premium themes available on WordPress. With premium themes, you can give a more customized look to your website.
